From what I read online a few months ago, yes.
I don’t have problems falling asleep at night, but I am considering purchasing a
$10 Uvex pair like these:
December 2016 update: I still love those Orange Uvex glasses and use them every night. However, Life After Internet no longer does business with Amazon. Our only sponsor is Mobicip.
While I don’t personally suffer from insomnia, I do wake up pretty early most mornings. But I’m not always tired at night, when I should be in bed. My body will be tuckered out from school/work/projects/gym, yeah, but my mind will still be going. Thinking about random stuff. Last night I really really wanted to look up some condos for sale in SE Asia. Either Thailand, Philippines, or Singapore. Like wtf? Why can’t I just be sleepy and go to bed.
From the reviews I’m reading on Amazon, it seems that these glasses, by blocking blue light, can induce drowsiness. It’ll put you to sleep, just like taking melatonin pills.
I’ve had two jobs were I worked a lot of midnight shifts and took melatonin pills. One job was steady midnights, as a security guard. I did that for thirteen months, just over a year. The other job was a swing shift. Every third night was a midnight shift. I’d usually do that as a summer job in between college or university semesters.
I’ve had a break from midnights for a couple years now thankfully. But one of my best friends just did a year-long stint with midnights, and I will be doing midnights again sometime soon in the next 6-12 months. That’s on the horizon for me.
So insomnia and sleep quality are still important to me. I will be dealing with midnight shifts within the next year for sure. Normally I’ve always rode the caffeine and melatonin roller coaster. Coffee to stay awake all night, melatonin pills to go to sleep. But it is harsh and definitely wears on you.
Poor sleep quality affects your energy levels, your game, your performance in the gym. It affects your willingness to diet, whether that’s a big appetite for a bulk to put on lean muscle or willpower to avoid sweets and alcohol to lean out and get trim.
It also affects your free time. When you’re not at work, there will be moments when you feel like a groggy turd.
So are those $10 glasses worth it? I’m thinking about it. I’m not in a rush, but I would like to try them out. Whenever I do, I’ll write up a decent review for you good people of the internet.
Enjoy the weather this weekend, and get some sleep lol
